Two weeks before Christmas 2010 Mr and Mrs Brown ordered a pair of profiling adjustable beds through Back Care Beds, the retail division of High & Dry Manufacturing Ltd. Ellie had a chat with them to ask how they are getting on.

Ellie;

Can you tell me why you decided to buy profiling adjustable beds?

Mr Brown;

My doctor recommended we should get them since I suffer with acid reflux disease, it’s really unpleasant. Acid from your stomach comes back up causing heartburn and…….

Mrs Brown;

OK George, you don’t need to go into detail. Just to say that when he’s lying flat it’s much worse.  And because George is shuffling about and moaning all night, I don’t get any sleep either. (more…)

Adjustable beds for Father Christmas (and his good wife)

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

I remember when Santa took his sleigh-driving test. When he arrived back at the grotto ready to load up a delivery of adjustable beds. I asked Santa ‘Did you pass?’  He looked rather pleased with himself, pointed to the sleigh and said ‘Look, no-el plates!’

(It’s nearly Christmas so I had to slip that one in.)

Santa Googling Adjustable Beds

Santa Claus googling adjustable beds

It’s no easy task delivering millions of presents to all the boys and girls all around the world in just one night. Imagine the strain that would put on your back carrying sacks of toys, breaking and entering all those homes. Climbing those ladders and crawling down chimneys. It is no surprise that he has decided to invest in a pair of adjustable beds, one for himself and one for his lovely wife. With nearly a year to rest, who can blame him for wanting to relax in style. Please Santa, can I have an adjustable bed for Christmas?

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

Ho ho ho, It’s that time of year again and you’re scratching your head to find that certain present to light up the life of that deserving person. An adjustable bed will do just that. Unfortunately Santa can’t get that in his sack so you will have to buy this one yourself. Fortunately Back Care Beds have reduced their already incredibly low prices until the end of January 2012.

The convenience of an adjustable bed

Sunday, November 27th, 2011

How often have you been lying in bed and felt the need to elevate your upper body  and feet  for that perfect position to watch television, read a good book , work on your laptop ,enjoy breakfast in bed or just kick back and relax but the pillows you stacked up just kept shifting  every time you moved? Now you don’t have to worry about precariously balanced pillows because you are in your adjustable bed that will raise your upper body to just the right position. The natural sitting position will offer a far greater level of comfort than you can possibly achieve with a stack of pillows.

High & Dry Waterbeds & the internet, A UK manufacturer in Hampshire

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

High & Dry Waterbeds set up in business in 1988 during the reign of Margaret Thatcher, we only intended to sell to established waterbed shops. There were a lot of retailers selling through magazines like Exchange and Mart and other local free magazines. High & Dry made the decision that we would not supply these retailers because we did not want to upset the high street shops and at that time there were quite a few. The British Waterbed association set the requirements for membership. For a short time John Boyton-Salts, director of High & Dry Waterbeds was on the committee.

High & Dry Manufacturing Ltd decided to lease a huge shop to sell directly to the public and double as our trade showroom. By showing a full range of mattresses in a range of hardside and softside waterbeds. We were now both a retailer and manufacturer of waterbeds.

Every waterbed retailer advertised with Yellow Pages. Everybody resented the fact that Yellow pages could charge what they wanted, and did. Since the evolution of the internet I would compare Yellow Pages and Yell to a school bully that has just got beaten up the school geek. (more…)
