Serena twin adjustable beds

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

I am interested in the 2’6″ Serena twin adjustable beds but am limited in width as the adjustable beds need to fit into an alcove between 2 wardrobes.  Could you please confirm what the total width of 2 x 2’6″ twin adjustable beds when placed side by side would be.
Also is there a choice of lengths for the adjustable beds?
and what is the guarantee period?

Hi – Customer Details Removed –

I sent you an email reply late last night that I hope you received regarding width and length of the bed.

In addition, we give a 5 year guarantee on the adjustable bed mechanism and memory foam mattresses. Having said that, we have been manufacturing and supplying these beds for the past 15 years and they have proven to be extremely reliable.

Please call 0800 074 9866 to discuss further. Thanks John

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.  Unfortunately I didn’t receive the e-mail regarding width and length of the adjustable beds – could you resend the information please.

Hi, I sent the message at 11.51pm from a blackberry (Too much technology)!

The combined width of the 2 adjustable beds is exactly 5′ (60″) however we are able to make the adjustable beds a couple of inches less to clear your alcove. The best idea is to tell us the maximum width that will fit.

The standard length of the beds is 6’6″ (78″) but again we can increase this for a small additional cost.

If you would like more information over the weekend, you can email me and I can call you back if you wish.

Have a nice weekend. Thanks John

Hi John – is it possible to make a shorter adjustable bed – ideally 6’3″?  Regarding the 5′ width – the gap we have is 60 and 5/8 inches so presumably that should be OK?  Also what is the height of the bed from the floor to the top of the mattress and what is the depth of the mattress?

Comments

Hi – Customer Details Removed –

Sorry for the delay replying. I was out on the road yesterday.

Length is no problem at 6’3″ and is the same price.

The mattress depth is 8″ This is the recommended depth of the best quality memory foam mattresses. The standard height of the adjustable bed is 22″ from the floor to the top of the mattress. This can be higher or lower to suit you, and again there is no extra charge. You can tell us the height you require.

Width, even if that sounds like a tight fit, it will not be a problem making the bed. To fit sheets on an adjustable bed is far easier, because you simply raise the head end, hook the sheets on and lower it back down. What area do you live? John

Hi John, thanks for you help with our order.
As discussed we would like 2 x 2’6″ twin adjustable beds with foot end drawers – bed
lenght 6′ 3″, height to top of mattress 24″. I have attached the photograph
with measurements which highlights the problem caused by the side skirting
boards in the alcove where the head of the adjustable bed will go. It’s rather a large
Word document so I’ve reduced the size as much as possible but the size of
the photo can be increased once it has been downloded.

Hi, – Customer Details Removed –

Good photo and drawing. As an ex toolmaker I appreciate the engineering drawing. It makes
life much easier for us. Paul is back in the workshop Monday, I will discuss the best way to work
around the skirting and discuss this with you.
Thanks John

Dear – Customer Details Removed –

Thank you very much for your enquiry.

Yes we can easily upgrade the Adjustable bed to cater for weights up to 25 stone. The additional cost of £250 is to use 2 motors instead of one (Each motor unit actually contains and operates two motors making a total of four)

We also upgrade the thickness of the adjustable bed slats, The total cost  £850.00 plus vat.

As you mentioned in your enquiry, such medical conditions will exempt you from paying VAT for your adjustable bed and an exemption form can be downloaded and returned to us from the website.

By raising the adjustable bed head and or foot section, many medical symptoms can be relieved, providing sometimes the best nights sleep someone may have had in years.

The adjustable beds themselves are a fantastic quality with the majority of the bed made from our own factory in West Sussex. The top cover is removable and machine washable and is manufactured in a lovely thick quilted fabric.  Extra covers are also available.  We also have a very committed servicing department for both installations, advice and after sales service.

The adjustable beds themselves are beautifully upholstered and if you would like fabric samples we can also supply these to you.

We also stock a selection of sheets which fit the adjustable beds nice and snug. They are 97% cotton but stretchy which make the beds very easy to make.

If you would like any more information on the adjustable beds or would like to place and order, please do not hesitate to call on 02392 811223.  Our showroom in Southsea is open Mon – Saturday 10am-5.15pm.

 Kind Regards

Jane

downloadable “Adjustable bed assembly” page

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Dear Jane,

Thank you for your helpful phone call.

I have found the downloadable “Adjustable bed assembly” page on your website. There is more to this than I imagined!. I note that you have a nationwide delivery and installation service at £100.  I would be happy with that figure for delivery and assembly. Could you let me know if this is possible?

 Hello

The adjustable bed can be shipped to you on a pallet at a cost of £50.00 and there are two ways of accessing the adjustable beds installation instructions (Pictures).

On the website www.backcarebeds.co.uk  – click adjustable beds and at the bottom right you will see a small arrow and delivery and Installation.  Click that and the instructions will come up.  Also if you have been using the Build a Bed section – the instructions can be located at Step 7 in a PDF Format which will allow you to print them if you require.

For an additional £50 (Total £100) we will deliver, install and give full operating instructions for the adjustable bed and the massage unit, although it is pretty self explanatory.

I hope this helps

Jane

Hi – Customer Details Removed –

Yes we have been manufacturing adjustable beds for over 20 years. We have standardised the range for the purposes of the web site, but we are very adaptable.

We do not manufacture the Westmont adjustable bed, we are distributors for the German company.

If you would like any further information, please email or call 0800 074 9866

Thank You

John

Hello John

I am looking for a cot that the base can be raised electronically. I don’t want a hospital type one as they look like a mini jail.

Thanks

Hello – Customer Details Removed –

Could you give me a better idea of your requirements? When you say a cot, do you literally mean a Childs cot, or an adjustable bed with cot sides.

What size do you need, and then I could give you much better information.

If you want it to be a height adjustable bed we offer a lifter, please see the link. https://www.bed-adjustable.co.uk/PDF-Adjustable-beds-build-a-bed/Adjustable-Profiling-Lifting.pdf

We can adapt our adjustable beds to work with the power lifter to make it profiling and lifting.

I am guessing you have a requirement for cot sides. If this is the case our nursing care bed would be the most practical solution, because it is height adjustable, fully profiling and incorporates the cot sides. Unlike general nursing adjustable beds, this is a particularly pleasant looking bed. The head and foot end actuators are enclosed so as not to look like a hospital bed. We have also upholstered these in the past to further take away the clinical look. We use a suedette which is washable and is available in a range of colours.

I hope this is of some help or at least a step in the right direction. Please feel free to tell me if I am completely on the wrong track.

Thank you,

John

Hello John

I was thinking of a baby’s cot that you can raise the mattress.

Comment

Hi – Customer Details Removed –

I have a suggestion. if you already have the cot or could source this yourself, we could simply supply the ‘power lifter’

This would cost £60 for delivery due to the fact that it is heavy but on wheels. Please see specifications below.

Width for Power lifter frames 800,900 and 1000mm

Length 1155mm

Lowest height 390mm

Tallest height 780mm

Price of Power Lifter is expensive and is made up from the following components:

Power Lifter, Arms, Wheels, Transformer, Delta drive and Handset

Total £524.00 + £60 Carriage + Vat

I expect this is way over the amount that you budgeted, but it is designed primarily to raise and lower a nursing bed  or adjustable bed and occupant.

Please let me know your thoughts (No swearing please!)

Thank you John

Hello John

That’s a lot of money! I think the price is rather more than I imagined, being that I have to buy a cot as well. I think that I will keep looking. Thanks

for your help.

Adjustable Bed Handset

Dear Back Care Beds,

Customer Comments: Like more information on adjustable bed handset ie. How many motors, backup if there is a power cut

Description of adjustable Bed: Single Bed | Width: 3′ 6 | Frame: Fixed | Mattress Type: Reflex, Reflex Medium | No headboard | Extras: Delivery Only
Price Ex VAT: 449.00

Hi – Customer Details Removed –

Having spoken with – Customer Details Removed –, we have established that you would need the 4 Motor adjustable bed mechanism. This would add £200 to our standard 2 motor system giving full control to the legs / feet and back / neck sections.

The ideal mattress to give maximum support and pressure relief would be the Medium Memory foam mattress.

The 4 motor adjustable bed system is only available in 3′ actually finishing at 3’1″.

Although our standard mechanisms come with battery backup the 4 motor does not unless you pay crazy money for a special handset with built in back up.

Honest opinion – you do not need a backup on this type of adjustable bed, because if the bed is in the raised position and a power cut occurs, the bed will remain in the same position.

£599 Serena 5 part Adjustable Bed with memory foam mattress

£200 Upgrade to 4 motor system

£ 50.00  Delivery Only (Easy self assembly)

if installation required add £50

weight limit for your Serena adjustable beds

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Enquiry  :  Hi could you tell me the weight limit for your Serena adjustable beds please.  Email would be preferable at this stage as I am disabled and don’t cope very well on the telephone.  Many thanks  – Customer Details Removed –

Comment

Hi  – Customer Details Removed –

There is no weight limit for the Serena adjustable bed, however at 18 stone it would be advisable to upgrade the design to incorporate two motors instead of one, also to upgrade the thickness and layout of the slats.

The additional cost of this is £170.

I hope this answers your initial enquiry.

To give maximum support the memory foam mattress is the best. Pocket sprung mattresses have obvious problems on adjustable beds. If you let me know what width adjustable bed you would like and your weight roughly, I would be able to recommend the most suitable grade of memory foam mattress for you.

If there is anything else you would like to know, please feel free to email.

Thank you for your enquiry.

John
